Motherless daughters foundation celebrates 11th annual gala

The Motherless Daughters Foundation celebrated its 11th Annual Gala with an unforgettable evening of elegance, community impact, and generosity. The highlight of the evening was an inspiring keynote address from Dr. Xernona Clayton, a pioneering civil rights leader whose lifelong commitment to justice and equality continues to uplift communities worldwide.
The evening, held at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, was a resounding success, showcasing the transformative work of the Foundation and recognizing exceptional contributions from sponsors, honorees, and supporters.

Key Highlights of the Evening
- Chris Tucker donated $20,000 to the Motherless Daughters Foundation, furthering its mission to empower and support our youth.
- The Mayor of Atlanta was presented with the Champion of Youth Award by Founder Rassalyn Rawls-Uter and First Mother Sylvia Dickens for their dedication to youth empowerment.
- Judge Kenya Johnson, Fulton County Probate Chief Judge of the Probate Court of Fulton County, donated personal gifts to the youth of the organization, bringing smiles and encouragement to the Foundation’s beneficiaries.
- Mistress of Ceremonies, Portia Bruner, host of the nationally distributed lifestyle show “Portia,” led the evening’s festivities, ensuring an unforgettable experience for all attendees.
- Guests were treated to captivating entertainment, including a performance by Trumpet Player Melvin Miller and a stunning dance routine from the AXAM Dance Theatre Experience.
- Aviation Dreamweavers Foundation awarded an aviation college scholarship to Kelsey Griffin, while the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport scholarship was presented to Michael Koffron.
- Shaniya Lewis was awarded a scholarship with support from the Africa’s Children’s Fund.
- Skylar, 10 years old, was recognized as a Top Toastmasters Student.
- Devon Willis, a graduate of the Youth in Aviation Program and Honor Student at Middle Georgia State University studying Aviation Management and Science, and Mercedes Williams, a graduate of the Motherless Daughters Foundation and Georgia State University with a bachelor’s degree in Biology, were both recognized for their achievements as program graduates.

Silent Auction
The evening featured an exciting silent auction with contributions from valued partners, such as Chateau Elan Hotels and Resorts, offering exclusive luxury experiences and getaway packages. Proceeds from the auction will further support the Foundation’s mission to empower youth.

8th Annual Toy Giveaway
Earlier in the day, Dr. Xernona Clayton hosted the 8th Annual Toy Giveaway alongside the Hank Stewart Foundation and Hyatt Black ERG at Hyatt Hotels, with dedicated support from Hyatt Hotels volunteers. The event served children in the community, underscoring the Foundation’s commitment to serving youth.
