These Weekend Family Getaways In Georgia Are Perfect

Looking for weekend family getaways in Georgia that everyone can enjoy? It can sometimes be difficult to find things that will entertain children in different age ranges, but don’t worry – there are plenty of kid-friendly attractions in the Peach State for young kids and teens alike! We’ve gathered up a few of our favorites from all over the state, check them out:

Cumberland Island, Georgia, USA

Cumberland Island is one of the strangest places in Georgia. This barrier island has lush forests, sandy beaches, ruins of an old mansion, and the Atlantic coast’s only herd of unmanaged feral horses. There are between 120-200 horses on the island, which can be reached by ferry from St Marys.

Savannah’s Candy Kitchen, 225 E River St, Savannah, GA 31401, USA

There are actually several Savannah’s Candy Kitchen locations throughout Georgia. We love the location right on historic River Street. There’s a lot to explore in this area, with plenty of kid-friendly attractions, and the free praline samples given away at the candy shop are a delight for all ages!

World of Coca-Cola, 121 Baker St NW, Atlanta, GA 30313, USA

There are many great family attractions in Atlanta, but one of our favorites is the World of Coca-Cola. This museum tells the story of Georgia’s favorite beverage, and after you finish the tour, you’ll get to sample sodas from all over the world.

Tubman Museum, 310 Cherry St, Macon, GA 31201, USA

The Tubman Museum is in Macon’s museum district and it’s a great opportunity for kids to learn about African American culture and history. The information is presented in an easy-to-understand format and there are interactive exhibits.

Chehaw Park & Zoo, 105 Chehaw Park Rd, Albany, GA 31701, USA

Albany’s Chehaw Park and Zoo has 800 acres of outdoor fun. There are 73 species of native and non-native animals on display, plus an RC track, a seasonal splash pad, and a playground.

BabyLand General Hospital, 300 NOK Dr, Cleveland, GA 30528, USA

BabyLand General Hospital is a must for families with younger kids. Self-guided tours are free and you’ll even be able to see Cabbage Patch dolls being “born.” It’s not far from the Alpine town of Helen, and definitely worth a stop if you have kids that love dolls.

Clock Tower, 410 E 2nd St, Rome, GA 30161, USA

Rome is such a great city, and the beautiful clock tower is a fascinating place to get a bird’s eye view of it. It’s 107 steps to the top of the tower, which was built in 1871. The tower houses local art and even has a small history museum detailing the city’s past.
