“This is one of my favorite places on the ship,” LaTouche, who handles the retail arm of the ship as part of his responsibilities, said. “You feel different when you come in here.”

Gary LaTouche, the director of hotel operations, merchandise, photo, spa, and internet for Disney Cruiseline, tried to warn the members of the media that he was giving a tour on Monday, Dec. 9. He was clear about what would happen to their concentration after he showed them around the rainforest inside the Senses Spa, which is located aboard the Disney Treasure.

The Senses Spa, which is located aboard Disney’s latest cruise ship, the Treasure, is a getaway adults can take while on vacation. LaTouche, who has worked for Disney for 28 years, told his tour that the rainforest is so relaxing that they would not want to continue the tour. The spa is for adults and LaTouche said it’s best if visitors move through it as a circuit of stops. “This is about hot and cold therapy,” said LaTouche.

Example of the hot: The heated ceramic bed lounges are so warm that it was difficult to get up once you got on one. Despite being made of ceramic tiles, it was eerily comfortable. With all the activities available on a Disney cruise, an hour on a heated ceramic bed lounge is a good relaxation option.

Example of the cold: The frigidarium is a cold therapy room for lowering the temperature before you lay down on heated ceramic bed lounges or enter after one is finished with a deep tissue message.

The spa also includes a relaxation room, a rejuvenation room, and a couples room, that includes a hot tub.

LaTouche believes a visit to the spa on a Disney cruise is unique for many reasons.

“The ship is an experience you can only get at Disney,” LaTouche said. “We out you to bed and we wake you up. We have it all.”

Similar to other spas aboard Disney cruise ships there are also traditional spa treatments available for guests, but there’s always the rainforest.

“I always lose people in the rainforest,” LaTouche joked.
