Bulls’ fourth-quarter surge leads to victory over Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks had a 77-60 lead shortly after the third quarter began. However, the Chicago Bulls outscored Atlanta 35-15 in the fourth quarter and stormed out of State Farm Arena with the 125-113 victory Saturday night. Seven Bulls were in double figures, led by Coby White and Zach LaVine, scoring 18 points each.
Trae Young had 14 points and 16 assists in the losing effort.
“And that’s what teams do whenever a team’s coming off of back to back,” Young said. “You want to get up and down and kind of continue to make them tired. That’s not an excuse to let them play the way they did in the second half or in the fourth quarter. But yes, that’s what happened.”
The Hawks have played three back-to-back games in the first 17 days of the season, which exacerbates fatigue.
“We communicate about it during this stretch is a pretty unique situation,” said Atlanta Hawks head coach Quin Snyder. “We’ve played [Trae Young] in different rotations throughout the year tonight. You know, he was obviously gassed at the end of the game. We all were. If we can get some stops, we can counter that by not having to work as hard offensively.”
Atlanta travels to Boston to play the Celtics on Tuesday. They will return home Friday night to face the Washington Wizards in NBA Cup action. After the game, the Hawks will embark on a three-game west coast swing, playing the Trail Blazers, Kings, and Warriors.
